Motionless, I run to you.

Alone, I lie in your arms.

Frightened, your music calms me.

Hungry, your love sates me.

Ready to give up, your words stead me.

Being second isn't easy,

But I continue to dream.

GIVING THANKS by Joanne Shenandoah

In respect to our home the earth,
We say thank you to the earth
For everything that she gives to us;
Nourishing us everyday.
We give thanks to all the water in the world,
Everything within that water.
We give thanks to all the grass that lives on the land.
We give thanks to all the berries, the fruits, the medicines.
We give thanks to the animals that keep the forests clean.
We give thanks to all the trees for their different uses
that they give to us,
For shelters, for fires that we make
In the winter time keeping us warm.
We give thanks to the birds who sing their beautiful songs.
We give thanks to the four winds.
We give thanks to the grandfathers;
The ones that bring the rain.
We give thanks to our oldest brother, the sun,
Who shines his light everyday.
We give thanks to our oldest grandmother, the moon,
For she is the one that has been charged with the duty
To make sure that light has a continuance.
She is the one that watches over all the movements
Of the water and also the water within us.
We give thanks to the stars, her helper.
And we give a special thanksgiving to the four
sacred beings that watch over the human family.
Sometimes we notice them when we are traveling
in dangerous places.
They are the ones that come to our minds
And say go around, don't go any further.
So that's why they are there.
To protect us and steer us away from danger.
So that's what we do. We start right from the earth
and we climb the ladder right to the special place
beyond the heavens.
Where there's a special spirit that lives there.
The spirit that made it possible for us to be here
And everything that we have mentioned.
And so with the collectiveness of our minds and hearts,
We send a special thanksgiving and greeting
To the great spirit of us all.
Joanne Shenandoah

You split me

And tore my heart open,

You filled me with love.

You poured your spirit over mine,

I knew you

As I know myself.

My eyes are radiant with your light,

My ears delight in your music,

My nostrils are filled with your fragrance,

And my face is covered with your dew.

You have made me see all things shining,

You have made me see all things new,

You have granted me perfect ease

And I have become like Paradise.

And having become like Paradise,

My soul is healed.

For the Grape Escape

One of film's greatest writers, directors, producers is Frederico Fellini. He had the imagination of a genius, attitude of a child, and words of a sage -- to live spherically; not from one point of view, but with an open mind.

Love this quote: "A different language is a different vision of life."

My favorite: "There is no end. There is no beginning. There is only the passion of life."

Buona giornata!

Allow a smile so natural
to be suppressed,

Exaggerates the vanity
so obviously expressed.

The Brilliante Weblog Award

It must be in the air! Thank you so very much LarryG for your award. There is no feeling like it when another scribe appreciates your work. Thank you again, Larry! :))
This is a sampling of Tipper's art at Blind Pig and The Acorn . Her works have been made in the Appalachian tradition. As I have purchased one of her paintings, I can attest to its ethereal feel and execution. If interested in anything displayed, contact her and she will be more than happy to accommodate you in any way she can. More are showcased on her website.

I've also received and sent, to the recipients' delight, her hand-made cards. Am looking forward to her Holiday cards which, again, are created in the Appalachian tradition. If you have any questions or are interested in anything you see, please don't hesitate to contact Tipper . Petra

The Superior Scribbler Award

I want to thank Poetikat for awarding me with The Superior Scribbler Award. I am most honored and thankful, Kat. For anyone who writes, it's truly a special feeling to receive it. Thanks are also in order to the originator, The Scholastic Scribe .

There are rules! Honestly, I cringe at rules! I live life using poetic license whenever I can. But back to the rules.

1. Each recipient passes the award on to 5 most deserving blog friends. This is nearly impossible for me as I consider everyone on my blog list deserving. But here goes!

For her humor, reflections, and love of all living creatures I Beati-a meeting place to share our blessings and laugh a little!!

Tipper at Blind Pig and The Acorn creates an Appalachian gem, reflecting her true love of the arts and her rich family heritage.

For her humor and outright honesty with the spirit of Zen, The Zen of Motherhood.

One will never leave unsatisfied at Rubber Slippers in Italy with Rowena's culinary feasts, exotic excursions, and other surprises - expressed to include the reader every step of the way.

For anything and everything vintage Mary Lou's creations have flair and magic at Hello Mary Lou .

I can't stop at 5! Just a few more, I promise!

Chandini's prose and poetry are mesmerizing at Reading, writing, and more . Always enjoy your stimulating observations, Chandini!

In addition to White Rose's Garden's breathtaking poetry and blog is Poetry for a Night Owl's captivating poems.

Since I'm a screenwriter, you all must know by now that anything film makes me salivate. Here's a blog I was introduced to not only for her love of Johnny Depp, but for her imaginative writing at The Depp Effect.

And two of the most irreverent, lovable, and creative writers who bring out the devil in me The Inner Minx , a published authoress, and Bullet Holes in the Mailbox , whose imagination can rival the best of them.

For those I haven't mentioned-you know who you are-please forgive me. It is so difficult to be on this end!

So, back to the rules!

2. Each recipient must link to the author and the name from whom he/she has received the Award.

3. Each recipient must display the Award on his/her blog.

4. Each blogger who wins the Superior Scribbler's Award must visit The Scholastic Scribe and add his/her name to the Mr. Linky list. That way, everyone is kept up-to-date on who receives the Award.

5. Each recipient must post these rules on his/her blog.

*laughing* Enough with the rules! But thank you again Poetikat for this wonderful Award! And thanks to everyone for making blogging and life that much more interesting and fun! Petra

External implosion.
Internal explosion.

Dancing in a ballet of ionic mime!
Feeling with infinite intensity!
Running in cosmic direction!
Moving in colors uncharted!
Magnetic pulls play between cerebral spheres!

Looking out at the eclipse of myself.
Looking in at the freedom of me.
