Inauguration Day - January 20, 2009

To participate in today's events, visit our gracious hostess Muse Swings for a list of bloggers who are offering anything related to Washington D.C. in honor of the Inauguration.

~~

After a long and exciting day of sightseeing in Washington D.C., watching a film helps to relax and unwind. Visit the old-time movie palace, The Uptown Theater , on Connecticut located in the historic Cleveland Park neighborhood.

The following are clips from fictional Presidential films for your viewing pleasure. Some more factual, a few just downright fun. Enjoy on this Inauguration Day!

The Crossing (2000) starring Jeff Daniels as George Washington

Young Mr. Lincoln (1939) starring Henry Fonda

Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1940) starring Raymond Massey

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) starring James Stewart

Seven Days in May (1964) starring Fredric March as the President with Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster

Dave (1993) starring Kevin Kline as the President

The American President (1995) starring Michael Douglas and Annette Bening

I haven't actually seen any of those films but it's cold and snowy here today so that sounds like a good idea for later. Though at the moment, I can't imagine anything more awesome than what's on my tv right now.

Howdy! That's clever to preview movies! My favorite of the bunch would be "Seven Days In May". Excellent acting, story and direction in my never-to-be-opinion. :o)
Have a great day! And thanks for visiting my blog too.

Great post! I've seen most of these films and enjoyed them. The American President was on this afternoon, but I chose to watch the real one. I'll hang out in you theater for a while - maybe have some of that free popcorn and a soda while I watch The Crossing again.
