That is really cool. My parents were a bit overrun by Japense Beetles a couple years ago. They got into everything. Nothing like that though! I wonder if this happens there every year? I know they started using and promoting ladybugs as a natural way to get rid of aphids. Maybe too much of a good thing?

I'll have to look up aphis, PV! It's fascinating, but can't imagine having to deal with being overrun by them!

I don't know why it is, but I know some types of insect do this from time to time. I think with ladybirds it depends on the weather (they like damp springs) and the amount of food available.

It's quite something, isn't it?

we have ladybugs in our area, but I haven't found the "ladybug tree"
