Eunice Kennedy Shriver (July 10, 1921-August 11, 2009)

Born in Brookline, Massachusetts to Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. and Rose Kennedy (nee Fitzgerald), Eunice Kennedy Shriver championed handicapped children. She began the Special Olympics in her backyard in 1962 and has received numerous accolades for her lifelong dedication.

I would have liked to have known this lady, have coffee and chat awhile during a long weekend in Cape Cod. She seemed the most personable and relateable of the siblings.

What a wonderful thought, Janeen! My guess is that she must have been very vivacious and high spiriited to have loved handicapped children so and do something for them!
