SUNDAY IS FOR POETRY: Hysteria

The noose dangles

The gun's cocked

The water's deep

The razor's sharp.

The speeding train heads towards me

while I hallucinate my way out.

Stunned at the impact of your saving tackle,

yet satisfied;

my face is where it belongs

in the now wet, red dirt.

These scrapes are nothing

to the scars

my psyche must bear.

Dear God, I'm scared.

I'm fading

in the growing dark.

The noose dangles

The gun's cocked

The water's deep

The razor's sharp.

Thank God!
I feel you beside me.

NOTE: Please do not worry that this poem in any way reflects my thoughts. Memories of a friend who had gone through emotional upheaval lunged at me. I needed to try and express it.

It could well be any man in these times you are indeed a poetess. Sandy

I didn't think of it that way, Sandy! So true!

The last line makes me hope she's ok? K.

K., she's fine, but went through a terrible time right after she had her baby. The hormones can wreak havoc!

First, I'm glad it's not you, though I feel for your friend.

The poem is breathtaking!

Thank you, MZ! The feeling of helplnessness for a dear friend was the most difficult!

Wow, very heavy. Great work.

Thank you, ML's! It was with ambivalence I wrote this as it was about a dear friend going through a very "heavy" period. I guess my way of trying to understand the mental anguish she was experiencing.

I didn't think it was you-just part of life-that sometimes we all feel-or at least I have. Neat Vivid Expression!
