Hi K.! So many didn't like the Monkees if one were a "true" Beatles fan. So silly really. It's like comparing apples and oranges.
The industry wanted an American version of the Beatles which was unfortunate for the Monkees, thinking by throwing in a cute Brit, all would be happy. No one appreciated them. But they hung in there and still drew crowds.
I was truly shocked when Davy Jones had passed so suddenly.

Of course, I knew of the Monkees, but was just a few years too young in the 60's.
But am familiar with much of their music as it's been played often throughout the years. K.
