Quick Votes and Sweet Charity!

Into one question, quick votes magically sum up a topic which can be overly digested.

It's difficult to think of others outside friends and family during the mad rush of the holidays, often forgetting those less fortunate. Today's quick vote is:

Do you give to charity during the holiday season?

Most definitions maintain that being charitable is directed towards the sick and needy. And, of course, that is the case most times. But aren't we all in need at one time or another?

A huge hug and thank you to everyone for having made my 2009 easier and happier in one way or another by your thoughtfulness, kindness, and friendship! When I need to get away and sometimes imagine myself being a recluse, in a flash, I realize I'd be lost without my dear friends!

Love, Petra xo

I find that being a compassionate person who can feel the needs of others is what makes us complete. It balances the selfish side in all of us. Those individuals who take this compassion a step further by finding ways to actively help others, are very unique people whose friendship is a true blessing.

Thank you for your friendship Petra and happy New Year!

Omg! Now that I've reread last night's post it does come off sounding melodramatic! I didn't mean to come off like that at all!

Wholeheartedly agree, Enzie! Happy New Year to you! :))

Hugs right back to you, MZ! :))

Yes, I'm fine, K.! The quick vote question got me thinking; that's all! I apologize for any unnecessary concerns! Hugs to you, K.! :))

How to define charity? Well, I think in Biblical terms in simply means 'love' doesn't it? And then there is 'being charitable' which means interpreting what people say or do in the best possible light, or giving them the benefit of doubt if they seem to be being unkind.

Giving money can sometimes actually be the easy option. For instance, this Christmas, one of my gifts was sponsoring two greyhounds at the Tailends 'senior citizens/terminally sick' charity. An alternative option to help greyhounds would have been to physically go along to a rescue kennel near here and help with cleaning, feeding and walking on Christmas day.

Which is more use? Well, that's impossible to decide. Which is easier for me? Unquestionably, opening my cheque book. ;)

I couldn't have said it more eloquently, Jay! Thank you! :))

Yes we give our time and money to charity during the holiday season! I've also been doing a monthly sponsorship with Women for Women International since 2003. I've sponsored some amazing women who have survived the Bosnian war. In fact, just got in the mail this week my new woman for 2010~
