Less is More or to simplify, Les S Mo -- the proof with lovely small homes

The trend to downsize in housing is increasing.  A slump in the economy and the desire to preserve and work with our environment have many thinking creatively and keenly.  As noted below, some impressive and lovely small homes:

And there are those with a sense of humor:

House on the Rock in Spring Green, Wisconsin

One Log House in Garberville, California

Mary's Gone Wild Glass House in New Brunswick, North Carolina

Pickle Barrel House Museum in Grand Marais, Michigan

You know Petra, this post has really got me thinking. Being a single woman who'd always lived in a condo, a small comforting home such as these are so appealing.

And what a beautiful song. I've NEVER heard it or her before. What a lovely voice and woman! I'm going to look for more of her music.

Petra, I loved this post because I am of the mindset that less is more when it comes to my living space. I have always lived in small, efficiency (studio) apartments and really enjoy it. It's less to take care of and prevents me from collecting things I don't really need and keeping it simple.

Great selection of small homes! I love the 1st, 4th and 6th ones down because they all look like treehouses.

"One Log House in Garberville, California"

HA! PRICELESS!!!

Oh, and btw, I never knew who Kitty Kallen was but remembered hearing her voice from the video clips you just shared. I love the sound of her voice! And what a pretty lady.

Thanks for sharing, my friend. Have a FAB week!

I like the idea! My husband's college friend was on an episode of Tiny Houses that I just saw. Their original house burned and the show built a new one. I loved the thought of living small and they have a BEAUTIFUL view...but they're 25 miles from civilization and they can't even get electricity up there--it's all solar. I realized from watching that that there's a price for a view like that.

Hi K.!

I'm seeing these crop up more and more; esp. great for a single person or young couple without children.

I think about living standards of Japanese who were way ahead of everyone with making the most of space.

Isn't her voice lovely? I learned of Kitty Kallen through her song, Corcovado, and my love of bossa nova.

Have a wonderful weekend, K.! :))

Hi Ron!

Oh, totally agree. In my homes, I had a vacuum cleaner on every floor. Whew!

As I mentioned, these smaller homes are becoming very popular. And love how many are environment conscious.

Yes, the "One Log House"; one huge log! LOL

And would you believe Kitty Kallen was born in Philadelphia. I don't know if she's still there at 92...

You as well, Ron! :))

Hello Stephanie!

Isn't that something? They can't get electricity? I would think "Tiny Houses" would see to that!

My brother had solar on his home in New Jersey. That was how many years ago? I think the public is much more sophisticated about solar with many business as well going S.

Thank you so for stopping by with your insightful comment, Stephanie. And it was very nice meeting you. :))
