Ron's Favorite Places Travelled: photo sharing of and for his fans and followers at his blog, Being Ron

Lived in Edinburgh, Scotland on Learmonth Court (upper right) for the year 1985

Ron is hosting a photo sharing event on his blog for his fans and followers. If you'd like to view the many travels among us, please feel free to visit him at Being Ron . Happy travels!

Note:  One can only imagine how many photos I'd taken over the period of a year as I've traveled the breadth of Scotland, and some of England, Wales, and Ireland.  The following are just a few of hundreds.

Besides Edinburgh, I adore a city in the Scottish Highlands called Inverness.  Have seriously considered relocating there. Perhaps I was drawn to the water running through it from the River Ness (Inverness means, in Scottish Gaelic, "mouth of the river Ness"), its jovial and hospitable people, its majestic settings, plus the mystery which can never be explained away.  I visited for at least a week during which time I searched for Nessie at Loch Ness, only to find swans (left photo in collage).   I was so in love with Inverness and stayed at this lovely inn which was taken during the winter when I revisited.

It seemed there had been a castle in every city I visited.  In the collage above in the lower photo is Edinburgh Castle.  Enjoy a very small glimpse into Scotland, Ireland, and England.

This post is just amazing, Petra. I can only imagine the time you had living there for a year. And that you actually were considering relocating to Inverness?

Have never been to Scotland but have always heard such wonderful things about it.

And listening to those terrific songs of the 80's. What memories!

Thoroughly enjoyed Petra. Thank you.

K. :)

Faaaaaaaabulous post, Petra! What super array of photographs! They make me wanna visit Scotland so much!I especially love the 3rd photograph down, the house with the snow on it, because I love winter and snow!

I have only visited two places in Europe (Amsterdam, Holland and Brussels, Belgium) both of which I enjoyed. I would loved to take a year off and do nothing but travel all over Europe. There is something about Europe that has always intrigued me - the history and the architecture.

What a great selection of songs from the '80's! "Take on Me" from a-ha was one of my favorite videos of that time because of the graphics. Also, "We Are The World" was a fabulous song with a great message!

Thanks so much for sharing this post and for also participating in the photo share!

Have a super week, my friend!

X

Hi Petra, thanks for stopping by my blog and taking the time to comment. Love your photos and memories of your visit to Britain, it's great to get someone else's take on one's country. So glad you enjoyed it,

It is fun to see your photos, Petra Michelle! Have you ever heard of the Outlander series of books by Diana Gabaldon? They are set in Scotland and are about time travelers. That's my extent of knowledge on Scotland. I have never been to Europe, but I would love to visit some day.

The a-ha video is my fave video of all time.

Hi, K.! Would you believe it? Yes, I was very close to. I was 34 then, and was pretty certain I could live there for the rest of my life. But, life always offers another path, so...

I'm so glad you enjoyed, and hoped that I could offer the chance to be there. :))

p.s. Those were the songs we heard at the clubs for months. ;)

Thank you, Ron! I'm so happy that you enjoyed your day~!

Have always wanted to visit Holland and Belgium, myself. About Europe, if all one has to do is travel, it's really quite easy to get around. But I wanted to learn Scotland and met so many wonderful people.

In 1985, these were the songs played over and over in the clubs; others too, but I wondered what the YouTube limit is, though I know I've posted more than today's. ;)

Thank you for the invitation to blog about the experience, Ron! Have a wonderful day! :))

I hope to visit again, soon, Lisa. What I enjoyed about your blog was its format in introducing so many ideas. And, of course, I immediately gravitated to baseball and loved your family's names. Very imaginative!

It was surely a fun day! :))

You would think that one month would have been plenty of time, Akelamalu. But, like falling in love, one wants more until satisfied. Lol

It was fun revisiting Britain, as well. Thank you so for stopping by. :))

Hi Bijoux, thank you for stopping by!

No, I'm not familiar with the series, but thank you for the suggestion. Will definitely have a look.

It's funny, I wasn't a writer then, at least a few years away though I kept a diary. A very interesting and colorful year, indeed! :))

Hope to visit again soon, Bijoux.

Hi, Rob! Thank you for stopping by!

I have so many more of Dublin too, but then I have so many more of everywhere listed, I just had to stop.

But I'm so glad you enjoyed. It was fun meeting everyone today! :))
